Esmat Babaii 



Esmat Babaii is a Professor of Applied Linguistics working as a faculty member at Kharazmi University, Iran for more than two decades where she taught research methods, language assessment and discourse analysis to graduate students, conducted research, and supervised graduate dissertations.  She graduated from Shiraz University, Iran, in 2003. She has published numerous articles and book chapters dealing with issues in language assessment, Systemic Functional Linguistics, test-taking processes, and critical approaches to the study of culture and language. Her works have appeared in national and international journals such as Language Testing, Pragmatics & SocietyCritical Discourse StudiesCritical Inquiry in Language Studies, etc. Her most recent work (How ‘good’ or ‘bad’ Others can be) was published in the special issue of Language and Intercultural Communication (2023) on nationalism and intercultural communication. She has worked as a member of the review panel of several top-tier journals in the field of applied linguistics with 79 journal articles(76 in English, 3 in Persian) , 9 book chapters.
